A GAME OF TWO HALVES FOR

TITLE-WINNER SUSAN JACKSON

Ladybank's Susan Jackson won the East of Scotland women's championship in a very tight finish at Falkirk Tryst Golf Club today (Sunday).
Susan finished with a one-under-par 70 to win by a single shot from Kate McIntosh (Broomieknowe) and Louise Macgregor (Falkirk).
Kate's better inward half earned her second prize.
Susan looked set for a runaway win when she reached the turn in five-under-par but she bogeyed the 10th, 11th and 12th, then double-bogeyed the 13th.
But Jackson stopped the rot and was able to salvage a four-over-par inward half for a 70 to hold her challengers at bay.
Former Curtis Cup player and past British champion Alison Davidson (Stirling) was the pre-tournament favourite on the grounds that she had set a new course record of 65 over the course in the Falkirk Tryst Women's Open three weeks previously - a score that saw Alison regain a +1 handicap.
But a repeat performance was not forthcoming and Alison finished with a 72.

Craigmillar Park members filled the first two places in the handicap section. Megan Linton had the lowest net round of 66 off 19, winning by one stroke from clumate Emma Morrison who had a 67 off eight.
Wendy Nicholson (Broomieknowe) finished third with a 69 off four.
The team trophy competition - best three individual gross scores per team - finished in a triple tie between Fife, Midlothian and Stirling & Clackmannan.
All had totals of 217
The tie-breaker was each team's best fourth score and Fife won it with 75
