HEATHER MUNRO T43 FINISH IN PALMETTO INTERCOLLEGIATE

CONNIE JAFFREY SLUMPS TO A LAST

ROUND OF 9-OVER 81 FOR T33 PLACE

Scot Connie Jaffrey (Kansas State) had a bad day at the office today in the final round of the Palmetto Intercollegiate over the Turtle Point course on Kiawah Island, South Carolina.
Connie from Kilwinning, Ayrshire, selected for the GB and I team of five to defend the Astor Trophy in Australia in January, slumped a nine-over-par 81 for a total of 228 and a final placing of T33 (she had started the round in T14 position).
Jaffrey had a triple bogey 7 at the par-4 11th and bogeys at the first, second, sixth, seventh, 12th, 13th, 16th and 17th in halves of 39 and 42.
She birdied the long fifth and short 14th.
The Scot finished 16 shots behind the winner by one, Lena Schaeffner (Coastal Carolina) (68-73-71 for four-under 212).
Elon University's Heather Munro from Monifieth, like Connie Jaffrey, a freshman, finished T43 on 230 with rounds of 73, 79 and 78.
Emily Royer (Georgia State), a freshman from Maidstone, Kent, scored 80, 74 and 80 for 234 and T60 position in a field of 104 players.
Heidi Baek (Maryland) shot rounds of 78, 89 and 88 for 255 and a final placing of 97th.
Coastal Carolina scored double whammy in that they won the team title as well as the individual honours.
They totalled 866 to win with ease from GRU Augusta (878) and Furman (879).
Kansas State finished sixth on 906, behind great state rivals Kansas (897) who came fifth.
Elon (925) finished 14th in the table of 20 teams.
