LETAS TOURNAMENT REPORT AND SCORES

LAURA AND JANE SHARE 14th PLACE

AFTER OPENING 75Ss IN AZORES OPEN

Alford's Laura Murray and Jane Turner (Craigielaw) were tied for 14th place on three-over-par 75 at the end of the first round of the Azores Ladies Open at Golf de Batalha, Sao Miguel Island.
Paul Lawrie Golf Centre player Murray ran up a double bogey 7 at the long 13th and also dropped a shot at the 18th in an inward half of 39, compared with her 36 going out.
Turner too could not get a birdie after the turn and came home in 38.
Former Scottish amateur champion Alyson McKechin (Elderslie), still an amateur, travelled to the event but after two holes of the first round she took ill and had to retire from the competition.
A one-shot lead in this LETAS developmental tour event is shared on two-under 70 by three players, Daniela Prorokova (Czech Rep), Caroline Rominger (Switzerland) and German amateur Franziska Friedrich.
