MEGHAN MACLAREN MAKES TOP

British women's open amateur stroke-play champion Meghan MacLaren, pictured above by Cal Carson Golf Agency, from Wellingborough finished joint ninth in the Old Waverly Bulldog Invite at Old Waverley Golf Club, Mississippi.
Meghan had three steady rounds of 73, 74 and 72 for a total of three-over-par 219 at a 6,229yd course
She finished 12 shots behind the winner by six, Ally McDonald (69-67-71 for nine-under 207) of host university Mississippi State.
Anglo-Scot Nicola Callander, a freshman student at Southern Mississippi, is still searching for the form that has deserted her since she won the Scottish Under-21 girls' open title at Blairgowrie two or three years ago.
She finished last of 74 with rounds of 89, 88 and 89 for an aggregate of 266.
Hosts Mississippi State University (558) won the team title by a comfortable margin from runners-up Southern Florida (882). Florida International (889) came fifth in a field of 13. Southern Mississipppi (926) finished 12th,.
