Boutier fires four-under 68, Leona Maguire 

has a 71  at Tar Heel Invitational Day 1

CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina – Duke University junior Celine Boutier carded a four-under-par, 68, Friday and sits tied first overall after day one at the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational 6,379-yard, par 72 Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Boutier, a product of Montrouge, France, registered six birdies on the day and is tied first along with Wake Forest’s Marissa Dodd and NC State’s Augusta James.
As a team, Duke turned in an even-par, 288, and is tied second overall one shot behind South Carolina (287).  The Blue Devils are tied with Wake Forest, while NC State (289), Oregon (291), Vanderbilt (293), Florida (293), Louisville (296), LSU (296), Arkansas (298), Virginia (298), North Carolina (298) and Auburn (298) rounded out the top 10 teams.
With three birdies over her first nine holes, Boutier made the turn at three-under-par.  After draining birdies on her 13th and 14th holes, she moved to five-under for the day.  After a bogey on the 390-yard, par four 15th and three pars, she closed the day with her second straight round of 68 this season.
Continuing her standout play to open her collegiate career, GB and I international freshman Leona Maguire carded birdies on No. 2 and No. 6 on her way to making the turn at two-under.  A native of Cavan, Ireland, Maguire rolled in a birdie on the 13th to move to three-under, before closing with three pars and a bogey on No. 14 and No. 17 to finish with a one-under-par, 71.  She hit all 18 greens, 12 fairways and had 35 putts.
In seven rounds at Duke, all seven have been even or under par, including three in the 60s for Maguire.
Sophomore Sandy Choi netted a two-over-par, 74, Friday and is tied 29th overall.  Choi, who hails from Seoul, South Korea, opened her day with a par and then registered her first of two birdies on the day on the 343-yard, par four second hole.  She suffered bogeys on No. 3 and No. 6, but closed the front nine with a birdie on No. 9.  Choi had a double-bogey on No. 11 to drop her to two-over-par, while closing with seven straight pars.  For the day, Choi hit 13 greens, 14 fairways and had 35 putts on the day.
Seeing action in her first collegiate tournament, freshman Gurbani Singh carded a three-over-par, 75, and is tied 43rd overall.  A product of New Delhi, India, Singh opened with bogeys on two of her first three holes, but she settled down over the next six holes to play even par.  She rolled in her first career birdie on the 370-yard, par four fourth hole.  Singh kicked off the back nine with a bogey and double-bogey, but closed strong with birdies on No. 12 and No. 18.  She hit 13 greens, 11 fairways and had 32 putts.
Freshman Lisa Maguire, twin sister of Leona, held a three-over ledger through14 holes, but finished four-over-par in her final four holes to finish with a 79.  Maguire, who is from Cavan, Ireland, hit 11 greens, 10 fairways and had 35 putts Friday.
As a team, the Blue Devils collected 13 birdies, including eight by Leona Maguire and Boutier.
Duke will tee off Saturday in the second round beginning at 10:39 a.m., along with Wake Forest and South Carolina.
