NORTH BERWICK STUDENT CONTINUES TO IMPRESS FOR LOUISIANA-MONROE UNIVERSITY

CALUM HILL CHALKS UP THIRD TOP-10 

USA FINISH OF 2014-2015 SEASON

FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF LOUISIANA-MONROE WEBSITE CHOUDRANT, Louisiana – Aided by sophomore Calum Hill’s third top-10 finish in four events this season, the University of Louisiana-Monroe men’s golf team shot a team score of 885 (+25) to place them ahead of New Orleans, Nicholls State and conference foe UALR  at this week's Jim Rivers Intercollegiate on the Squire Creek Country Club course. “Calum (pictured above putting in the tournament) played another great tournament to continue his excellent play thus far this season,” head coach Walt Williams said.  “As a team we struggled with consistency this week, playing great in the first round, poorly in the second round and slightly off in the final round to place seventh in the field.” Hill, a second-year stuent from North Berwick, followed up his stellar Monday showing with a 71 (-1) to complete 54 holes of golf four strokes under par and finish sixth on the individual leaderboard. Propelled by a score of 73 (+1) in the last round of action, junior Velten Meyer posted a 27th place mark with a total score of 222 (+6). In the second tournament of his career, freshman G.K. Morrison carded a 228 (+12) to ensure back-to-back top-50 finishes. Greg Smail  (a third-year student from Musselburgh) and senior Mason Seaborn recorded identical 229 (+13) scores during three rounds of golf. After shooting 589 (+13) through two rounds on Monday, the Warhawks registered a 296 (+8) on the final day of action due to Hill and Meyer’s solid rounds. “We hope to build on the positives and finish strong next week in our final fall event,” Williams added.
