STUDENT FROM PERTH MAKES TOP 20 IN OKLAHOMA - AND IT COUNTS

NEWMAN TEAM WIN SINCE AUGUST

Emily Aird from Perth, a second-year student at Newman University, Wichita, Kansas helped her team win a third title in four starts over the first three months of the 2014-2015 US women's college golf season.

Emily, pictured right, a former pupil of Breadalbane Academy, shot rounds of 76 and 75 for a seven-over-par total of 151  to finish joint 16th in a field of 72 players at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate at Fort Sill Golf Club, Oklahoma.
Top scorer for the Newman Jets was Londoner Josie Jenkins, a third-year student. She finished joint seventh on 148 with rounds of 77 and 71.
A third Brit on the Newman roster, Alex Patton, a second-year student from Chippenham, finished joint 30th of 154 with scores of 75 and 79.
Ivon Reijers (Redlands) was the individual winner by a five-stroke margin with quality rounds of 68 and 70 for six-under-par 138 over the 5,921yd, par-72 course.
Newman took the team title by the narrowest of margins - only one shot ahead of runners-up Midwestern State in a field of 12 teams.
It was Newman University's last tournament until next spring.
