TRIPLE BOGEY COSTS KINROSS STUDENT WINNING CHANCE

CALUM HILL SLIPS OUT OF LEAD TO 

FINISH FOURTH IN NEW MEXICO


Calum Hill from Kinross, a third-year student at Western New Mexico University, finished fourth in a field of 99 at the WNMU Fall Intercollegiate tournament at the Golf Club of Estrella on Tuesday.
Hill, pictured, was joint leader after a pair of 69s over the par-72, 7,102yd course on the first day but a triple bogey 7 at the sixth in the final round saw him finish with a 72 for a total of six-under-par 210, only two shots behind the joint winners. 
Calum  had a par-three scoring average of 2.75 (-3) which was second-best among the field. He was also in the top-10 in terms of par-five scoring with a 4.67 (-4) and led the Mustangs in birdies (12) and pars (38). . .
Western New Mexico had three top-20 finishers - Tom Neve, a junior from Epsom, T7 on 212 (72-70-70) and Harry Wetton, a sophomore from Bedford,  T15 on 216 (67-75-74), backing up Hill.
Other WNM students:
218 (T22) Anthony McGeorge, sophomore from Holsworth, 73, 71, 74.
237 (T81) Daniel Young, a junior from Cheshire, 82, 79 and 76.
239 (T84) Ross White, a freshman from Dollar and a former pupil at Kinross High School, shot.78, 78 and 83. It was his first tournament as a Mustang. He tied 84th but will obviously improve on that once he gains experience.
Ben Skinner from Hertfordshire and a former pupil at Musselburgh's Loretto School, tied for 94th with 249(86-80-83).
Western New Mexico finished sixth of 19 in the team event won by South Mountain CC.
