US WOMEN'S COLLEGE GOLF NEWS

HAYLEY DAVIS FINISHES SECOND

WITH BAYLOR 54-hole RECORD

Mississippi State University women's team closed with a 12-under 268 Monday to finish off an 18-shot victory at the Schooner Fall Classic.
The Bulldogs shot 22-under 818 in 54 holes at Belmar Golf Club in Norman, Oklahoma. Arkansas (4 under) and Texas A and M (2 under) were second and third, respectively, and were the only other teams under par for the event.
Mississippi State senior Ally McDonald led the way, shooting a final-round 7-under 63 to finish at 13-under 197 (67-67-63) over a par-70 course and capture medallist honours by four shots over Baylor's final-year student Hayley Davis (pictured above) from Dorset. Davis broke the Baylor women's 54-hole record by eight strokes with rounds of 70, 65 and 66 for nine-under-par 201.

Chieh (Jessica) Peng was solo third for the Bulldogs while Ji Eun Baik (T-9) was the third Mississippi State player to finish in the top 10.
In contrast, Baylor had no back-up for Hayley Davis's high-class performance.
The rest of their squad finished T24-T30-T48-T64 and 85th.
No wonder Baylor finished joint eighth in a field of 17 teams.
Former Scottish girls champion Lauren Whyte (St Regulus), a freshman on the Baylor roster, was not played in the Schooner Fall Classic. In fact, this talented, experienced Scotland international has not been chosen to play in any Baylor team since she enrolled in August.
Give the girl a chance, Baylor! All the other Scottish girls who joined American universities for the first time in August have seen plenty of competitive action - which is why they went there in the first place.
Connie Jaffrey, of course, already has a first USA win under her belt.
