US WOMEN'S COLLEGE GOLF TOURNAMENT NEWS



RACHEL POLSON MAKES TOP 20, HELPS

FLORIDA TECH TO 3rd TITLE IN ROW


Peterculter's Rachel Polson helpd Florida Tech win their third team title in a row at the start of the 2014-15 US college golf season.
Record-breaking win No. 3 came in the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate over the Sea Trail golf links at Sunset Beach, North Carolina on October 6/7.
Rachel finished joint 19th with scores of 79 and 75 for 154 - 14 shots behind team-mate Johanna Larsson whose rounds of 68-72 for four-under 140 gave her a four-stroke win from a field of 105 players. 
Florida Tech (589) won the tournament  by a comfortable margin from Wingate University (604).
King University, who had won  their last event, finished tied seventh in a field of 20 teams.
King's Samantha Taylor, a second-year student from Newcastle, finished 10th with rounds of 76 and 74 for 150. 
Also scoring for King were Nicola Robertson (a freshman from Dunblane) and Elizabeth Swallow (a third-year student from Berkshire)
 Robertson finished the tournament sitting in joint 41st after shooting a two-round total of 159 (81-78) while Swallow (82-79 for 161) tied for 49th
