LOYAL AND ENTHUSIASTIC SUPPORTER OF BORDERS' GOLF
BORDERS LADIES' EX-CAPTAIN JENNY
PEARSON DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS
PEARSON DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS
Captain, Border Ladies CGA
It
is with great sadness that I have to report that Border Ladies
ex-captain, Jenny Pearson sadly passed away on Sunday after a long
illness.
Jenny, captain for
two separate terms, was a loyal and enthusiastic supporter of Border Ladies and
Border Girls Golf.
She was at the helm
when I joined the committee as junior secretary and in my first year, I
accompanied her as an official to the girls Inter-divisionals at Ballumbie
where her passion for competition was very much in evidence. She provided great encouragement to many of
our up and coming players and took great pride when Martine Pow gained her first
full Scottish International Cap at Royal Porthcawl in 2004, travelling down to
see her play.
In both years of her first term of captaincy the Border Ladies qualified for the County Finals - Nairn Dunbar in 2004 and Ranfurly Castle in 2005. She returned to the captaincy in 2010
Jenny enjoyed her golf and the social side that went along with it and indeed wherever she travelled to play, Jenny would undoubtedly be found in the pro shop looking to add to her wardrobe!
A very generous woman, Jenny Pearson will be a great miss to all who knew her.
