Gracie Lennon ... stellar amateur career in Australia, turned pro a few days agop
If dedication equates to world rankings, Melbourne’s Gracie Lennon is on track to become No.1.
The 22-year-old Australian turned professional a few days ago, with an exotic mission already on her agenda.
Lennon, winner of the 2013 Queen Sirikit Cup along with Minjee Lee and Su-Hyun Oh, is preparing for the Ladies European Tour qualifying school in Morocco next month.
The Kingston Heath prodigy is confident her hard work as an amateur will stand her in good stead.
“My greatest strengths and abilities are that I am determined and committed to becoming the best I can be,” she said.
“I have a sound understanding of my strengths and weaknesses and am able to manage them. I hope to inspire others throughout my journey, acknowledging some of the hurdles I have faced, and overcome in my life.”
A passionate student of the game, Lennon has already completed her Certificate 3 through the PGA.
Golf Victoria high performance manger Ashley Marshall congratulated Lennon on her stellar amateur career.
“Gracie has been an outstanding talent from her early days as a young junior to her national representation and victories at the elite end of amateur golf,” Marshall said.
“We wish her well as she embarks on the next phase of her golfing life and hope she has continued success.”
Lennon has a distinguished resume, including being the medallist (leading qualifier) at the Australian Amateur and winning the 2013 Riversdale Cup alongside four state titles.
