SCOTTISH U21 CHAMPION SIGNS FOR US COLLEGE

India Clyburn signs on the dotted line for North Carolina State University

 INDIA CLYBURN WILL JOIN NORTH

CAROLINA STATE UNI NEXT AUGUST

Indian Clyburn, who was 17 when she won the Scottish Under-21 girls' open stroke-play by a record margin of 12 strokes with a 15-under-par total of 207 at Alloa at the end of July, has signed a Letter of Intent to join North Carolina State University in the city of Raleigh next August.
India will receive a 100% golf scholarship when she joins NC State who already have Airdrie-born Rachael Taylor on their women's golf roster.
India, from Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire and a member at Woodhall Spa Golf Club, is also the English Under-18 girls champion (that's the trophy pictured on the right of the picture at the top of the page).
India, younger sister of Holly Clyburn, one of the Ladies European Tour's outstanding younger players, won the Daily Telegraph girls championship grand final on the Algarve in early October. She has also won the Royal Birkdale Scratch Trophy women's open tournament.
Currently No 85 in the Women's World Amateur Rankings she is a contender for a place in the GB and I team for next June's Vagliano Trophy match against the Continent of Europe at Malone Golf club, Belfast.
Looking even farther ahead, India has the 2016 Curtis Cup match at Dunlaoghaire GC, Dublin in her sights.
She is more experienced than most teenagers, having played regularly against the lady professionals on the Paul Lawrie Ladies Tartan Tour.
Eventually, India, who was named after a daughter of the late Lord Mountbatten - Earl of Burma, wants to follow in her big sister's footsteps as a tour professional.
+India Clyburn is the second star England teenager to commit to an American university within the past week. Junior Vagliano Trophy player Alice Hewson (Berkhamsted GC, Herts) has signed a Letter of Intent to join Clemson University.
