SECOND SCOT TO JOIN ELON UNIVERSITY

SCOTLAND BOY CAP NIALL McMULLEN

BOUND FOR NORTH CAROLINA

Niall McMullen has committed to join Elon University, North Carolina. The Scotland boy international will join coach Don Hill and the Elon 'Pheonix' team in August 2015.
Elon is a 'Top 10 Private Liberal Arts University' based in North Carolina.
It is a small town, dominated by university life.
Niall and his family felt that the American university route was the best option for him in terms of education, facilities and the opportunity to earn a high-quality degree, while playing and competing against many top-ranked amateurs on the college golf circuit.

Having been approached by a large number of high profile universities across America, Niall visited a varied selection, and was immediately impressed with the overall feel and enthusiasm by everyone he met at Elon.

Niall went on record saying, "I would like to thank Coach Hill and his team for helping me through the whole recruiting process. Selecting a university isn't just about receiving a scholarship, but about finding the best fit for me as an individual.

"I was over in the States in October, playing in the Faldo Series and Coach Hill (pictured left) invited me to make my "official" visit whilst I was there.
"I met the two other guys who have been recruited with me, and also spent some time with the current team. I was made to feel like a Phoenix (nickname of Elon Uni sports team members) from our initial meeting, and can't wait to join the team next August.
Niall, a member at Lundin Golf Club, Fife, will not be a lone Scot at Elon. Scottish  international Heather Munro from Monifieth is a current freshman at Elon, and she has enjoyed a great start to her US ollege career, having already being part of the women's team who won two out of the four tournaments played in the first half of the 2014-15 US college golf season.

McMullen, 17, won the 2013 SGU Junior Champion of Champions tournament which had to be rescheduled to March this year at The Duke's following a bad weather postponement at the end of last season.
He is a nephew of Fife professional Garry Forrester and won the 2013 Fife boys' order of merit.
The McMullen family home is in Lochgelly and it was at Lochgelly Golf Club that young Niall learned how to play the game.
