QUALIFYING PROSPECTS BLEAK FOR THOMSON, McKECHIN

MICHELE AND ALYSON WELL OUTSIDE 

QUALIFYING ZONE IN MOROCCO

The odds are long against Ellon's Michele Thomson and Alyson McKechin from Paisley joining fellow Scots Laura Murray, Jane Turner, Heather MacRae and Kelsey MacDonald in the field for at next week's Ladies European Tour Final Qualifying School at Marrakesh.
With one round to go in the Pre-qualifier B eliminator at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam, Rabat, Morocco, Thomson and McKechin, both former Scottish women's amateur champions, are sharing 61st place in a field of 75 - and only the leading 42 will advance.
Thomson has shot 78, 85 and 85 for 248 while McKechin, playing as an amateur, has scored 78, 85 and 85. Both are on the 29-over-par 248 mark, 35 shots behind the leader, Nicole Garcia (South Africa), the only player in the field seemingly capable of handling the testing Red Course.
The only player under par for 54 holes, she is on six-under 213 (72-71-70) and leads by 11 strokes.
McKechin had two birdies, but two 7s and two 6s on her third-round card. Thomson also had two birdies but one 7 and three 6s.
