THOMSON FINDS FORM TOO LATE IN MOROCCO
MICHELE AND ALYSON FAIL TO MAKE
IT TO FINAL QUALIFYING SCHOOL
Michele Thomson and Alyson McKechin have both failed to qualify for next week's Ladies European Tour Final Qualifying School tournament at Marrakesh.
In the Pre-qualifier B eliminator at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam, Rabat in Morocco, Thomson found her form too late, shooting a one-over-par 74 in her last round for a total of 322 - six shots over the limit mark.
The Ellon player birdied the first, second, eighth, 12th and 13th but, needing two more birdies to cap a great comeback, she instead sagged to bogeys at the 15th and 16th and a double bogey at the 17th in halves of 35-39.
Paisley's McKechin, like Thomson a former Scottish women's amateur champion, had a nightmare final round of 19-over-par 92, almost certainly her highest score for years
She had only four par figures on the card plus five double bogeys in halves of 45-47.
Her 72-hole aggregate of 340 was 24 shots over the limit mark for qualifying.
The winner of the Rabat event, South Africa's Nicola Garcia simply outclassed the field of 75 with a nine-under-par total of 238. She finished 13 shots ahead of the runner-up, Louise Friberg (Sweden).
