Gabrielle makes Portugal cut with nothing to spare

Scottish women's amateur champion Gabrielle survived the third-round cut with nothing to spare in the 85th Portuguese international women's amateur golf championship at Montado Hotel and Golf Resort today (Friday), writes Colin Farquharson
The St Andrews University student had rounds of 76, 79 and 76 for 231 to make the leading 40 and ties who will contest Saturday's final 18 holes.
Scotland's other representative, Iona Stephen (Ranfurly Castle) missed out. She had scores of 82, 82 and 77 for 241.
Scottish U21 girls' champion India Clyburn also squeezed through on 230 after starting the tournament with an 82. Her Woodhall Spa clubmate, Emily Slater, is the leadimg GB&I player after three rounds.
The unheralded Emily has shot 77, 68 and 72 for 218, one shot behind joint leaders Lucrezia Rosso (Italy), Carlota Ricolfi (Italy) and English-born Olivia Cowan (Germany).
Ireland's Chloe Ryan is joint eighth on 219 after taking 41 shots from the turn for a 76. Irish champion Mary Doyle never broke 80 in bowing out on the 245 mark in joint 79th position.
