Job opportunity at the Ladies Golf Union



INTERNSHIP


The LGU is offering a Summer Internship commencing on Monday 1st June 2015 and ending on Friday 25th September. The successful candidate will undertake Media, Website and Marketing activities primarily in relation to the LGU’s Championships and events but with some input to corporate activities at our St Andrews office.



It is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to gain practical experience within the sports industry and in a media working environment. It will offer a valuable opportunity to build important skills required for a future career.



You will work alongside a highly experienced team of event organisers, at a variety of championships and matches.



What We Are Looking For



Students who are currently studying at University (or equivalent), or who have finished University within the last year.



Your fundamental skills will include a high standard of written and spoken English, numeracy and computer-literacy. You will possess strong written and verbal communication skills, a flexible approach and a team player mentality. A sound knowledge of social media platforms, website and digital technologies is essential.  An interest in golf and photography would be preferred.



You will work at LGU events in a mainly media associated role, speaking with players, taking photographs, updating websites and social media, in line with the LGU’s brand guidelines and social media plans.  Other tasks may include assisting with the set up of a golf championship.



You should demonstrate a flexible approach, a willingness to learn and operate as a team player.



Working Entitlement



You must have an EEA passport and/or UK work visa.



Things to Consider

  1. Our Internship provides paid work experience (£50 per day).
  2. You will be required to travel within the UK & Ireland. Travel costs and accommodation will be met by the LGU in accordance with its expenses policy.
  3. You may be required to work weekends.
  4. You must adopt a flexible approach to your working day. Early starts and late finishes are often required.
  5. There are no guarantees of permanent employment on completion of the Internship period. However, you are welcome to apply for any available vacancies.
  6. The LGU will not be responsible for any travel expenses incurred during the interview process.
  7. If you are successful in your application, you will be responsible for arranging your own accommodation, as the schedule of events requires, within commuting distance of our St Andrews office.
