SOLID START BY CONNIE AND CHLOE DOWN UNDER

GB and I Astor Trophy team players Connie Jaffrey (Troon Ladies) and Chloe Williams (Wrexham) had rounds of 74 and 75 respectively over The Lakes Course (par 74), Sydney in the first qualifying round for the match-play stages of the Australian women's international amateur golf championship.


The Australian course (par 73) is also being used for the 36-hole qualifying.
Jaffrey, pictured by Cal Carson Golf Agency, beaten by St Andrews student Gabrielle MacDonald in the final of last year's Scottish women's amateur championship at Prestwick, is joint fifth and Williams joint 11th in the overall par leaderboard.
Jaffrey birdied the first and ninth but bogeyed the second and 10th.
Williams birdied the third, 11th and 13th, with bogeys at the first, second, fifth and ninth.

Innerleithen-born 16-year-old Karis Davidson, top-ranked Australian junior is T28 after a 78, also at the Lakes course. Queensland-based Karis took 41 shots for her inward half.
Two Western Australian players are setting the pace on two-under-par. Eun Jeong Seong had a 72 at the Lakes while Doey Choi had a 71 at the Australian course.
