SOPHIE LAMB NOW IN TOP TEN AT THE SALLY

Lancashire lass Sophie Lamb keeps on improving in the South Atlantic Ladies Amateur Championship - "The Sally" - at Oceanside Country Club, Ormond Beach in Florida.

Now the Clitheroe kid (Sophie had her 17th birthday at the end of November), pictured by Cal Carson Golf Agency, is in joint 10th place after rounds of 78, 76 and 74 for a tally of 12-over-par 228.
It is only the second time Sophie, a member of the GB and I Junior Vagliano Trophy team in France two years ago,  has ever played golf in the States and her first senior event over there . The only other event was the Doral Junior Publix where she finished eighth two years ago). 
Sophie had a poor start to her third round - bogey, double bogey, bogey -  but was then two under par for the next 15 holes to salvage her best round yet of two-over 74
 The conditions have apparently been tough, cold windy and foggy at times, more like the UK than sunny Florida.
Sophie and her mother Carina both took gloves and hand warmers to the States, just in case and have apparently used them every day!
 For the tournament they applied to stay at a member's house and they have been staying with a really lovely couple called Bill and Carol Caplin who have a house behind the 12th green - so it could not be better for the Lambs.

After today's final round they are travelling south to Fort Lauderdale for Sophie to play in next week's Jones-Doherty match-play tournament at Coral Ridge which should be another fantastic experience for her.

Sixteen-year-old Florida girl Sierra Brooks has suddenly surged nine shots clear of The Sally field with one round to go. She has shot 72, 71 and 69 for four-under 212 - brilliant scoring.
Last week's Harder Hall Invitational winner, Nelly Korda, younger sister of LPGA Tour player Jessica Korda, is sharing second place on 221 with Lori Beth Adams.
Hally Leadbetter, daughter of top coach David, is T33 on 242 (84-76-82).
Embry Riddle University student Sophie Olley from Leeds is leading the First Flight Category by one stroke with a three-round tally of 241, made up of rounds of 84, 78 and 79.
Hannah Robb, a member of St Michaels Golf Club, Fife and also a student at Embry Riddle, is T7 in the Second Flight with a 54-hole aggregate of 262 (85-89-88). She is seven shots behind the leader in this category.
