 SENIOR BRITISH WOMEN'S GOLF ACE WAS BROUGHT UP  IN ABERDEENSHIRE

Catherine Bailey, one of Britain's senior women's amateur golfers in the late 1980s into the 1990s, who has died in America at the age of 83, had strong links with the North-east of Scotland..
She was born at Kandy, Sri Lanka while her father; Mr. Paton, was stationed there as an employee of the Bank of Scotland.
The Paton family moved back to Scotland when Catherine was about eight, just as World War II broke out in 1939. They lived in the Abbey cottage at Fintry, Aberdeenshie
Mrs Bailey, who had a lively personality and a sense of humour, was an England senior international from 1987 to 1995
She was British senior women's champion in 1988 and 1989, having been runner-up in 1986
Catherine was England's senior women's  champion in 1986, 1987, 1989 and 1991.
Representing Tandridge Golf Club, Surrey with Mrs Sue Birley, Mrs Bailey won the London Foursomes in 1980 and 1983.
She was Surrey county champion in 1988, having represented Surrey for many years and was a member of at least three winning teams in the English women's county championship finals.
