CHARLOTTE THOMAS TO FORE IN CALIFORNIA 

GB and Ireland team player Charlotte Thomas, a strong candidate for a place in the nine-strong team to play the Continent of Europe in the Vagliano Trophy match at Malone Golf Club, Belfast on June 26 and 27, put in a strong finish at the UC Irvine Invitational tournament, writes Colin Farquharson.
She finished tied third with Washington University team-mate Jennifer Yang on four-under-par 212, only one shot behind the joint winners, Marijosse Navarro (Texas A and M) (72-68-71) and Gabriella Then (South Carolina) (70-68-73)
Thomas from Surrey/Singapore was outwith the leading 10 until she followed up rounds of 73 and 70 with a three-under--par closing round of 69.

The performances of Thomas, pictured right, and Yang helped Washington win their fourth successive team title this 2014-2015 US college golf season.
Washington (854) finished 11 shots clear of runners-up Southern Califrnia (865) with Texas A and A (870) third of 13.
A field of 72 players played over the par 72 course (5903yd) at Santa Ana Country Club, Santa Ana, California.
Charlotte played in the GB and I team at the Astor Trophy in Australia last month.

 GREENBERRY MAKES TOP 20 AT MOBILE

Meanwhile Harrison Greenberry from Devon, a third-year student at Kentucky University, finished T19 in a field of 30 at the USA Individual Championship college competition over a long par-71 course (7111yd) at Magnolia Grove Falls, Mobile in Alabama.  
Harrison had rounds of 85, 74 and 78 for a total of 237 - 24 shots behind the winner by two, Ryan Benton (Al;abama) (73-70-70)
