HEWSON, LAMB AND DUNNE THROUGH TO LAST 16
England's Alice Hewson and Sophie Lamb plus Ireland's Maria Dunne are through to the last 16 of the Spanish women's open amateur match-play championship at Seville.
Hewson, the No. 17 qualifier, beat the 16th qualifier, Maria Alzueta, by 2 holes.
Lamb, the 25th qualifier, beat the No 8 seed, Gioia Carpinelli, by 5 and 3.
Dunne, pictured right, KO'd the No 6 seed, Chloe Williams from Wrexham, at the 19th after a titanic struggle.
Ireland's Chloe Ryan, the 26th qualifier, lost by one hole to the No 7 seed, Diane Baillieux (Belgium).
Inci Mehmet (Royal Mid-Surrey), the 18th qualifier, lost by 3 and 2 to Maria Lunackova (Czech Rep), the 15th qualifier.
All the winners are playing again this afternoon.
