IRISH EYES SMILING AFTER PORTUGAL SENIOR
CHAMPIONSHIP SUCCESSES
Sheena McElroy (Grange) scored a double whammy success at the 23rd Portuguese international senior women's championship at Vilamoura, Pinhal and Millennium courses on the Algarve.
The Irish duo of McElroy, pictured, and Mary Madden (Ballinasloe won the curtain-raising four-ball, better-ball event at Pinhal with a solid round of 74.

McElroy followed this with victory in the individual stroke-play championship over 36 holes on the Millenium Course.
She had rounds of 78 and 79 for 157 to finish three shots clear of runner-up Mary McLaren.

Ireland also brought home the 14th Nations Team Trophy. The Trophy was won by the trio of Sheena McElroy, Mary McLaren and Mary Madden after they carded the lowest total of the teams' best two gross scores for each day.
