IRISHMAN SHARVIN TOPS FOR STIRLING AS THEY

FINISH SEVENTH IN CALIFORNIA

Stirling University men's team finished a commendable seventh of 14 top US college golf squads in the Prestige Invitational 54-hole tournament at the PGA West's Nicklaus Course (par 72, 7,205yd), Palm Springs in California this week..
Their team of five totalled 848.
Arizona State (833) won from Stanford (837) with San Diego State (841) third.
Former Irish amateur champion Cormac Sharvin finished tied 10th in a field of 81 and top-scored for Stirling with a total of seven-under-par 209 (69-70-70), six ahead of Jack McDonald (69-72-74). McDonald finished joint 28th.

220 Marco Iten 68 70 82, Mathias Eggenberger 70 76 74 (T43)
224 Henry Tomlinson 82 71 71 (T61)

The winner of the individual title was Stanford's Maverick McNulty (only an American could have a first name of "Maverick"!) with a 15-under-par total of 201 with rounds of 68, 69 and 64. What finishing score!
Stanford team-mate Dave Boote, a junior from Epsom, finished 27th on 214 (76-71-67).l
