NICOLA LEADS BY ONE IN SOUTH CAROLINA

Nicola Robertson from Dunblane leads the Converse College Spring Invite  tournament after the first round with a 75 at Carolina Country Club, Spartanburg in South Carolina, writes Colin Farquharson.

A freshman at King University, Tennessee, Nicola coped best with testing conditions at the par-72, 5824yd course. She had two double bogeys but was able to cancel them out with four birdies.
Nicola, pictured, leads by one shot from two players, one of whom is King team-mate Elizabeth Swallow, a third-year student from Berkshire. Elizabeth had a 76
Samantha Taylor, yet another King Uni student - she's from Newcastle! - is lying 16th in the field of 86 players with an 80.


 LESLEY, HOLLY SHARING 27th PLACE
In the 13th USA Women's Invite college three-round tournament at Azalea City, Mobile, Alabama, former Scottish girls champion Lesley Atkins (Louisiana-Monroe University) from Gullane and Holly Robinson (Alabama-Birmingham), a fourth-year student from Sligo, are T27 with one round to go.
Lesley has had scores of 83-78 for 161, and Holly 80-81.
Dolores Brown (McNeese State) from Kent  is 41st on 165 with 84-81
Katie Reid (Arkansas-Little Rock) from Dundee is T49 on 168 (82-86).
