PRETSWELL AHEAD OF KO IN NZ WOMEN'S OPEN

Hamilton's Pamela Pretswell outscored World No 1 lady pro Lydia Ko in the first round of the Handa New Zealand Women's Open at Clearwater Golf Club today.
Pamela shot a three-under-par 69 to be T9  while Lydia (and Charley Hull) had to settled for 70s as French girl Anne-Lise Caudal set the pace with a six-under 66.
Falkirk-based American Beth Allen had a 68 for a share of fifth place.
Edinburgh-born Sally Watson and Glasgow's Kylie Walker had rounds of 72 and 73 respectively to be T41 and T48.
Michele Thomson from Ellon, Musselburgh's Vikki Laing and Heather MacRae (Gleneagles) are sharing 64th place on 74 in a field of 138.
Comrie's Carly Booth had a 76 for a share of 93rd place.
England's Holly Clyburn, one of the pre-tournament favourites, surprisingly struggled to a nine-over-par 81.
