England U16 girls teams for Strathmore
NEWS RELEASE FROM ENGLAND GOLF
English U15 champion Emily Price and international Hollie Muse are included in the England Golf teams for the Scottish U16 girls’ open stroke play championship at Strathmore on April 9-10.
Emily, from Warwickshire, and Hollie, from Lancashire, will be joined in Team A by Martha Lewis of Surrey. Team B will be composed of Chloe Howard of Devon, Natasha Slater of Cumbria and Bel Wardle of Cheshire. The non-travelling reserve is Durham’s Jessica Hall.
The 36-hole championship includes an individual event and a team competition, played over both rounds.
The players:
Martha Lewis, 15, (St George’s Hill) tied fifth in this event last year. She was runner-up in the Scottish U14 girls' championship, fourth in the English U15s and fifth in the Sir Henry Cooper Junior Masters. She trains with the England Golf South U16 squad and has previously represented England U16s against Spain and Switzerland.
Hollie Muse, 15, (West Lancashire) helped England win both the women’s and girls’ Home Internationals last year. She won the girls’ title at the North of England U16 championship and was runner-up in the English U15 girls’ and in the girls’ event at the Fairhaven Trophies. She is the youngest-ever Lancashire ladies’ champion, winning the title as a 14-year-old.
Emily Price, 15, (Cleobury Mortimer) won the 2014 English U15 girls’ championship, having been fourth the previous year. She has represented England U16s against Switzerland and was third in last year’s English U16 schools' championship and eighth in the national schools’ championship.
Chloe Howard, 16 (Elfordleigh) trains with the England Golf South West U16 squad and has represented England U16s against Switzerland. She won last year’s South West Girls’ and Devon ladies’ championships and was fourth in the English schools’ and 10th in the English U15 championships.
Natasha Slater, 15, (Furness) is from the U16 North squad and has represented England U16s against Spain and Switzerland. She won last year’s Scottish U14 championship, where she was the only player – boy or girl – under par. She was also third in the girls’ event at the Fairhaven Trophies.
Bel Wardle, 15, (Prestbury) trains with the U16 North West squad. She set an amateur course record and claimed a runners-up place in last year’s WPGA One Day Series. She had top 10 finishes in Royal Birkdale Scratch, Comboy Scratch Trophy and Sir Henry Cooper Junior Masters and teamed up with Emily McBurney (Royal Liverpool) to win the Northern Ladies’ Foursomes. She was runner-up in the Cheshire ladies’ championship.
Jessica Hall, 15, (Bishop Auckland) is from the U16 North squad. She is the 2014 Durham ladies’ champion and was seventh in the English U15 girls’ championship and sixth in the English U16 schools championship.
