England's Richards and Russell runners-up in Spanish

 pairs championship at La Manga

England's Debbie Richards and Katherine Russell, a former graduate of Dundee University, finished second, one shot behind the winners, in the Spanish senior women's amateur pairs championship at La Manga today.
Debbie and Katherine, a past British seniors champion from Royal Ashdown Forest, had rounds of 71 (better ball) and 77 (foursomes) for a two-over-par final total of 148 over the par-73 course.
The winners were Spain's Casilda Castillejo and Finland's Minna Kaarnalahti with scores of 69 and 78 for 147.
Scotland's Susan Penman and Dorothy Thomson finished T30 on 173 (81-92) while compatriots Lesley Johnston and Ros Thoreson had scores of 84 and 99 for 183 and a T39 finish.
