FORREST'S TOP 10 FINISH IN SAN DIEGO CLASSIC

Grant Forrest, the 2012 Scottish amateur champion from North Berwick and a final-year student at San Diego University, finished a creditable tied sixth in a field of 87 players at the San Diego Classic college golf tournament which ended at San Diego Country Club, Chula Vista in California yesterday, writes Colin Farquharson
San Diego University student Forrest had rounds of 72, 70 and 71 for a five-under-par total of 211 over a longish course of 7,033yd (par 72). 

Grant, pictured right, birdied the 10th, 14th and 17th to consolidate his top-10 finish. only three shots behind two Washington University players, including the top-ranked amateur from Taiwan, Cheng-Tsung Pan, who tied at eight-under 208.
It was Pan's seventh win on the US college circuit and his third this year. He had scores of 66, 75 and 67.
His team-mate,also on 208, was Corey Pereira (69-71-68) from California.
Overnight leader Gavin Green (New Mexico), another world top 10 ranked amateur, had a surprisingly poor final round of 76 to drop down to T4 on 210. He shot 67, 67 and 76.
Washington (854) won the team title by six shots frm North Carolina with New Mexico (863) third and San Diego (864) fourth in a field of 14 teams.

HILL MAKES TOP TEN AT ONION CREEK

Calum Hill from Kinross, a third-year student at Western New Mexico University, finished joint 14th in a field of 83 at the St Edwards Invitational at Onion Creek Golf Club, Austin, Texas. 
Hill, pictured below, shot a pair of  71s for a two-over-par total of 142, 10 shots behind a play-off winner, Jono Ledger (St Mary's, Texas).

Ledger and Richard Mansell (Nova Southeastern) both had a pair of 66s for eight-under-par 132, finishing two shots ahead of the field.
Thomas Neve from Epsom, a third-year student at Western New Mexico) finished fifth on 136 (68-68).
Newman University junior year student James Bolton from Bury made the top 10 with a pair of 70s for 140 and a T9 finish.
Newman team-mate James Hornsby, a third-year man from Liverpool tied 14 on 144 with Calum Hill, also with a pair of 71s over the 6,303yd (par 70 course).
Western New Mexico's Ben Skinner, a third-year student from Loretto and Hertfordshire, tied 19th on 144 (72-72) and team-mate Harry Wetton, a sophomore (second year) from Bedford, finished T27 on 146 (73-73).
Nova Southeastern (272) won the team title ahead of Rogers State (278) with Western New Mexico (284) third. Newman (294) tied 6th in a field of 15 teams. 

KENT STUDENT DOLORES T24 IN BIG FLORIDA FIELD
 
Dolores Brown from Royal Cinque Ports GC, Kent and a second-year student at McNeese State, finished T24 in a huge field of 104 players at the UNF Collegiate at Jacksonville Golf Club, Florida.

Over a par-72 course of 6,050yd, Dolores, pictured right, shot 80, 76 and 75 for 231 - 14 shots  behind the winner, Megan Thotthong (Houston) with 75, 74 and 68 (great last round!)
Rachel Walker from Dumfries, a sophomore at Old Dominion, finished T84 with rounds of 80, 83 and 85 for 248.
Houston (885) headed the big field of teams, ahead of Texas (900)_ and Delaware (907).
McNeese State (911) came eighth and Old Dominion (949) 13th.
