Husband, wife make aces an hour apart

"Anything you can do, I can do better..."
It's a familiar saying, and one that applies to the recent on-course accomplishments of Barbara and John Pagana, a married couple who made matching holes-in-one within an hour of each other Friday at the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida
Barbara, the reigning ladies' club champion, made her ace on the fifth hole on the Ryder Course, a 9-iron from 109 yards. It was the seventh career ace for Mrs. Pagana, who had turned 66 (years) the day before.
Not to be outdone, her 69-year-old husband one-hopped an 8-iron from 140 yards on the 12th hole for career ace No. 16.
"It's the most remarkable thing that I have seen in my 44 years in golf," said Paul Rudeen, a PGA instructor who witnessed the matching aces from the Paganas.
Barbara has won the ladies' club championship each of the last six years at PGA Golf Club, and she carded a 71 during Friday's round. Her husband, who didn't take up golf until the age of 38, struggled to explain their unusually high success rate with one of golf's rarest achievements.
"I can't answer why we have been so blessed with holes-in-one," he said. "The Lord takes you where your heart is. For us, it is being outside and enjoying this game."
