KENT STUDENT J J GREY WINS AT

ATHENS, GEORGIA

J J Grey from Kent, a third-year student at Georgia State University, added to his wins on the US men's college golf circuit with victory on Monday in the Southern Intercollegiate 36-hole tournament at Athens Golf Club, Georgia, writes Colin Farquharson
J J, pictured, shot rounds  of 72 and 68 for a four-under-par aggregate of 140 over a 6,917yd par-72 course, heading a field of 84 players.
He won by a shot from J T Poston - another player whose first name
is "concealed" - a student at Western Carolina. He had rounds of 72 and 69 for 141.
J J Grey's effort was not enough to win the team title for Georgia State. They finished second, 13 shots behind winners Georgia in a field of 14 teams. Which indicates that J J Grey's team-mates are not quite in his class.
He won three times in the 2013-2014 college season and may well surprass that total for the 2014-2015 campaign. Remember the name, this 6ft 4in student could make a name for himself in pro golf two or three years down the road.

+NAME NOTE: A little bit of Google research reveals that J J Grey is actually Jonathan James Grey and his home golf club in Kent is Hever Castle.

He finished 14 strokes behind the winner by two, Austin Powell (Pennsylvania) (72-69-69 for six-under 210).
Virginia Tech (861 won the team title by a big margin from East Carolina (883) with North Carolina State (888) third, Virginia Commonwealth (889) fourth and Old Dominion (892) fifth.
