USA CURTIS CUP ACE PUTS BRITS IN THE SHADE

GB and I international team players Bronte Law (UCLA), Charlotte Thomas (Washington) and Hayley Davis (Baylor) finished fourth, tied eighth and tied 17th respectively in the Bruin Wave Invitational women's college tournament which ended at El Caballero Country Club, Tarzana, California today, writes Colin Farquharson.
The 54-hole event was won Bronte Law's team-mate, USA Curtis Cup player Erynne Lee with rounds of 73, 73 and 70 for level par 216 which saw her finish five shots clear of a quality field of 81 players
The second day's play was hit by heavy rain but the final round was played in sunshine with a top temperature of 67 degrees.
Law, from Bramhall, Cheshire, finished fourth, six strokes behind Lee with scores of 70, 77 and 75 for 222.
Thomas shot 68, 78 and 78 for 224 and a share of eighth place. Consolation for Charlotte, who comes from Singapore via Surrey, was that her Washington squad won the team title - more of that later.
Hayley Davis from Winborne, Dorset had much the same scoring pattern Thomas, i.e. good first round but going off the boil over the second and third rounds. Hayley scored 69, 79 and 79 for 227 and a share of 17th place.
Washington (890) won the team title by nine strokes from runners-up UCLA (899) with Oklahoma State (901) third.
Baylor (914) finished seventh of 15.
ANOTHER TOP 10 FINISH BY JESSICA BRADLEY
Jessica Bradley from North Devon, in her last few months as a student at Lynn University, Boca Raton, chalked up another top 10 finish - and there have been plenty of them over the last four years - in the Armstrong Pirate Women's Invitational at Savannah Quarters Country Club, Pooler in Georgia.
Jessica, pictured, shot 75-74 for a total of 149 and finished T8 in a field of 85 players behind the winner, Daniela Ortiz (Nova Southeastern) who had scores of 69-74 for 143 and won by two strokes.
Scot Rachel Polson, also coming up to the end of her four years at Florida Tech, gained a top 20 placing with rounds of 77-75 for 152.
She finished T17.
West Florida's Daisy-May Kenny from Purley and Aimee Paterson frp, Hampshire finished T20 and T32 respectively.
Daisy-May had rounds of 79-74 for 153 while Aimee scofred 77-78 for 155.
Nova Southeastern (588) won the team title ahead of Florida Tech (592) with Flagler College (596) third and West Florida (605) fourth.
Lynn (618) finished eighth in a field of 16 teams.
HEATHER HAS AN UP-AND-DOWN TOURNAMENT
ON KIAWAH ISLAND
Elon University freshman Heather Munro had one good round and two not-so-good rounds as she finished T48 in a huge field of some 150 players at the Kiawah Island Spring Classic.
The Monifieth student's scores were 81, 71 and 79 for 231 - 18 strokes behind the winner by two, Jessica Welsh (Jacksonville) who had scores of 73, 71 and 69 for three-under 213.
Georgia Price (Florida Gulf Coast) from Bude, England finished T60 on 233 with rounds of 80, 83 and 70. Georgia obviously saving her best for last!
Anglo-Scot Paige Kemp (Stetson) - her mother comes from Stirling - finished T69 on 235 with rounds of 79, 77 and 79.
Alice Plumb (Bethune-Cookman) from Somerset had rounds of 80, 76 and 82 for 244 and a T135 finish.
College of Charleson (886) won the team title ahead of North Florida (891) with Stetson (897) third, Chagttanooga (899) fourth, Samford (900) fifth and Elon (902) a creditable sixth in massive field of 40 teams.
