WALKER CUP CANDIDATE DUNNE 

MAKES TOP 20 IN GEORGIA

Irishman Paul Dunne, a candidate for GB and I's Walker Cup team at Royal Lytham September 12-13, finished T16 in a field of 90 players at the weekend's Schenkel Invitational college tournament at Forest Heights Country Club, Statesboro, Georgia, writes Colin Farquharson.
Dunne, a final year student at the University of Alabama-Birmingham, had rounds of 71, 69 and 70 for a six-under--par total of 210 over a par-72 course of 6,962yd.
Paul, from Greystones, Ireland, finished six shots behind the winner, Daniel Stringfield (Auburn), who had rounds 70, 65 and 69.
Jack Storey (Georgia Southern), a sophomore from Alnwick, finished T40 on level par 216 with scores of 71, 71 and 74.
Paul McBride, from Dublin, a freshman at Wake Forest, finished T45 with scores of 71, 68 and 78 for 217.
Henry James. a team-mate of Dunne's at Alabama-Birmingham, scored 73, 79 and 73 for a share of 77th place on 225. James is a sophomore from Kidderminster.
Matthew Sheehan (South Alabama), a sophomore from Exmouth, Devon, last last of 89 finishes with score sof 82, 77 and 77 for 236.
Harrison Greenbery (Kentucky), a junior student from Devon, withdrew after an opening round of 72.
Auburn (823) won the team title by a single shot from Vanderbilt with George Southern (844) third, Kentucky (846) fourth and Wake Forest and North Carolina State joint fifth on 847.
Alabama-Birmingham (848) could finish no higher than seventh.
South Alabama (897) were last of the 15 competing teams.
