Gillian Kyle wins Renfrewshire title for first time
FREDA TUCK REPORTS FROM RALSTON
Leading qualifier Gillian Kyle (East Renfrewshire) is the new Renfrewshire women's county champion. She won the title for the first time by beating 11 times title-winner Donna Jackson (Cochrane
Castle) by 2 and 1 in the final at Ralston Golf Club.
Gillian, playing in her first county Final, was two up
after only three holes. Donna won the fifth but Gillian continued her winning
streak and was three up at the turn.
Kyle won the 11th to go 4 ahead but lost the 14th, Donna then won the 16th with a birdie
4. The 17th was
halved and so it was a fine win for Gillian by 2 and 1.
Some excellent golf has been played by Gillian all week
having won the West Vets meeting on Monday.
She is now representing Scotland in the Scottish Vets match v Ireland seniors at
Dunbar this weekend.
Donna, pictured left with Gillian Kyle, didn't manage to achieve her 12th Championship win
but she was a very worthy runner-up.
The Championship Trophy and the Peggy Clark Trophy were
presented to the winners by Ralston Club Captain Graham Clark.
