Last-round birdies earn Michele Thomson top-10 finish in France

Former Scottish women's amateur champion Michele Thomson birdied the second, 11th, 12th and 17th on her way to a final round of level par 69 and a tied ninth place finish in the opening event of the 2015 LETAS Tour, the Dinard Women's Open in northern France today, writes Colin Farquharson.

The Ellon-born 2008 GB and I Curtis Cup player, pictured, had earlier scores of 67 and 75 over the par-69 course and finished on four-over-par 207.
Winner by one shot with a 207 aggregate was France's Sophie Giquel Bettan with scores of 70, 66 and 71.
Thomson was the only Scot to survive the second-round cut. Jane Turner (West Linton) and Glasgow's Gemma Webster were eliminated.
