Liam Johnston makes top 10 at Old Waverly
Liam Johnston (Chattanooga) T8 in a field of 84 players at the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship at Waverly Golf Club, West Point, Mississippi this past week.
Liam had rounds of 70, 72 and 69 for a five-under-par total of 211 - six behind the winner by one, Casey Fernandez (Southern Mississippi) who shot 71, 68 and 66 for 11 under 205.
Other Scots in the field included Euan Scott (Chattanooga) and the Southeastern Louisiana pair, Lawrence Allan and Eamon Bradley.
Scott finished T13 on 213 with rounds of 71, 70 and 72.
Bradley had scores of 75, 67 and 72 for 215 and 17th place.
Walker Cup team contender Paul Dunne (Alabama-Birmingham) finished T22 on 217 with rounds of 70, 73 and 74. Disappointing finish for Dunne but his college won the team title by a shot from Florida. SE Louisiana came fifth and Chattanooga T7 in field of 15 teams.
Back to the individual performances and Lawrence Allan finished T26 on 218 with scores of 74, 72 and 72.
CONNIE TRAILS AT DALLAS
Connie Jaffrey (Kansas State) from Kilwinning has shot a pair of 77s so far to be T42 in a field of 84 players at the 54-hole SMU/DAC women's invitational at the Dallas Athletic Club.
Connie's 154 tally leaves her 13 shots behind leader Aurora Kan (Purdue) who has scored 71-70 for 141 to lead by two shots.
The Texas San Antonio pair of Brogan Townend and Becky McGeehan are on T75 and T77 respectively.
Brogan has scored 84-80 for 164, Becky 86-81 for 167.
