 Olivia Mehaffey wins play-off

IRISH LADIES GOLF UNION NEWS RELEASE
Olivia Mehaffey (Royal Co Down Ladies) has won the Irish Under-18 girls' open stroke-play championship for a third year in a row, this time at Roganstown Golf Club, near Dublin.

But Olivia had to prevail in a sudden death-play with England's Sammy Fuller to complete the hat-trick
Overnight leader, Isabella Holpfer (Austria) was two shots clear going in to the final round. However, two bogeys and a double bogey on the front nine cost the Austrian player her leading position.
Mehaffey  shot level par 71 to take the clubhouse lead but she was joined on the 218 mark by Fuller who holed a 10ft putt for her only birdie of the day, at the 18th, which put her into a play-off.
Both players carded pars at the first extra hole, the ninth. Adrenalin was pumping as Olivia overshot the long par 5, 10th in two but chipped dead to inside two feet to secure a winning birdie 4. ed only two shots off the pace after rounds of 73, 74, 73 for 220.
Aboyne's Shannon McWilliam, the joint first-round leader with Mehaffey, finished a creditable joint third with Ciara Casey (Hermitage).
Shannon had rounds of 72, 75 and 73 for 220 - two shots behind the play-off participants.
Next best shot was Troon Ladies' Hazel MacGarvie, closing with a 72 for 228.
The International team rvent was dominated by Sweden (Beatrice Wallin, Linn Grant and Els Lundquist). They finished on 441, one shot clear of both England and Scotland (442). The Irish team carded a combined total of 445.
