round to go in Irish U18 girls'  stroke-play

IRISH LADIES GOLF UNION NEWS RELEASE

Defending champion, Olivia Mehaffey (Royal County Down Ladies) and Shannon McWilliam (Scotland) carded the two best opening first round scores of one over par 72 in the Irish Under-18 girls' open stroke-play championship at Roganstown Golf Club, north Dublin today.

However the leaderboard changed significantly come the end of round two with all players vying for a place in the top 50 qualifiers for Sunday's finale.

Isabella Holpfer (Austria) came to the front as the wind died in the second round. With rounds of 73 and 71 for two-over-par 144 she leads the field into the third and final round

Aboyne's McWilliam and title-holder Mehaffey are joint seventh on 147 after matching rounds of 72 and 75 - only three strokes off the pace ... so the stage is set for an exciting final round.
