Swallow and Taylor top-10 Tennessee finish
GREENEVILLE, Tennessee – The King University women's golf team came into
the second round of the Agnes McAmis Memorial with a seven-stroke lead
on the field at Links Hills Country Club, Greeneville.
However, King shot 322 in the second round, bringing their tournament total of 633 as they finished second in a field of 16 teams behind Lander University who shot 307 in the second round and 627 on the tournament. Carson-Newman (637) came third.
Third-year student from Berkshire Elizabeth Swallow led the Tornado (King sports teams' nickname) with her fourth straight top five finish, taking fourth place in a field of 90 players.
Swallow had a total of 153 after shooting 79 in the second round over a par-72 course of 5,805yd.
Swallow as also named to the all-tournament team.
Samantha Taylor, a second-year King Uni student from Newcastle, closed with a 79, giving her a seventh place finish on 156.
Nicola Robertson, a freshman from Dunblane, rounded out the King team with a repeat 85 for 170 and joint 47th place.
Mariana Martins (Lander) won the individual title, beating Caitlin Starrs (Wingate) at the first hole of a sudden-death play-off after they had tied on seven-over 151 (Mariana 76-75, Caitlin 72-79).
Megan Taylor (Wingate, North Carolina), a second-year student from Cambridgeshire and a former pupil at the Lee Westwood Golf Academy, finished just outside the top 20 in T22 position with scores of 80-81 for 161.
King will next be in action at the Conference Carolinas Championship which will be held April 19-21 at the Champions Course at Bryan Park in Greensboro, North Carolina.
