Hannah beats title-holder Alison at Forres

Defending champion Alison Bartlett (Royal Dornoch) was beaten 5 and 4 by Stirling student Hannah McCook (Grantown on Spey) in the match-play stages of the Northern Counties wmen's golf
championship at Forres today.
Leading qualifier Kerri Harper (Inverness) advanced to play Meg Sievwright (Keith) in the semi-finals.

Alison Bartlett did not go down without a fight in quality match, especially over the first nine holes when both players had four birdies and the match was all square.
"The difference," said Alison, the Northern Counties secretary, "was that Hannah kept it going with another two or three birdies!"

McCook, pictured, will now play five times county champion Cara Thompson (Royal Dornoch) in the other semi-final tomorrow morning.
