The 19-year-old Scot was also one of three Elon players chosen by the conference coaches for the CAA second team, an indication of how highly she is regarded, in view of the number of players competing in the conference.
Her father Lee says: "Heather's over the moon and gets home next Tuesday afternoon but unfortunately misses the Scottish women's amateur champion, being played next week on her home course, by a matter of hours.
"Unfortunately, Tuesday is the earliest that Heather can get home as her exams don’t finish until May 18 – just the way her subjects have worked out!
"I know some of the Scots girls in the States are home already as their exams are over and done with.
"This is Elon University’s first year in th Colonial AA conference, so they did well finishing secnd in their debut year! Elon played in the Southern Conference for the last good few years.
