Cara wins sixth Northern Counties title

Cara Thompson (Royal Dornoch) won the Northern Counties women's county championship for the sixth time today at Forres Golg Club.
She defeated Meg Sievwright 2 and 1 in the final.
In a very close contest, there was never more than one hole in it until the 17th hole.  Meg had opportunities to go ahead in the back nine but the game came down to one or two putts which didn't drop and some excellent scrambling from Cara.
Eleven of the 17 holes played were halved.  Cara was level parat the finish.
In the morning semi-finals Meg beat leading qualifier Kerri Harper (Inverness) 2 and 1 and Cara beat Hannah McCook (Grantown on Spey) by one hole.

In the handicap final, 16-year-old Ellie Docherty of Moray completed a wonderful championship by beating local player Fiona Grant of Forres on the 18th
