Nicholas Ward makes top 20 in California

Nicholas Ward, a second-year student from Eastbourne at Georgia Southwestern University, was the leading Brit in the final totals at the NCAA Division 2 South/Southeast Regional at Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club, Dade City in Florida.
Over a par-72 course of 7,098yd, Nicholas shot improving rounds of 77, 73 and 68 for a two-over-par total of 218. That earned him a T18 place behind the winner by two strokes, Richarde Mansell (Nova Southeastern) (70-72-67 for seven-under 209)
Team-mate Chris Low, pictured, a final-year student from North Berwick finished T39 on 224 with rounds of 77, 73 and 74.
And a third Georgia Southwestern student, Fraser Johnston, a second-year man frm Port Seton, came T89 in a field of 108 with an aggregate of 20-over-par 236. He had scores of 76, 83 and 77.
Nova Southeastern who provided the 1-2-3 finishers, not surprisingly, won the team event by 10 shots with Lynn (855) second. Georgia Southwest came eighth of 10.
