Royal Dornoch teenagers score in team better-ball

By ROBIN WILSON
A fantastic effort against a strong field of 44 teams and challenging conditions  by two local teenagers, Caitlin Boa and Rebecca Riddell, both aged 17, joined by a San Francisco member Lauren Tepper, won the Three Team better ball women's open competition at Royal Dornoch

They had tied a score of nett 67 with a Dornoch/Nairn Dunbar team of locals Marelle Sierra and Sue Helal and Dunbar's Fiona Munro but after recording birdies and eagles over the last six holes for a score of 23 against 24, the all local trio won the countback tie-breaker for first place.

In the team that finished fifth was Rebecca's mother, Claire Riddell, Alison Bartlett and Anne Harding, relegated to this position on count back after their 68 was beaten by a Muir of Ord trio of Pat Morrison, Susan Campbell and Eveline Huhutton and another trio of locals, Belinda Shepherd, Suzie Sutherland and Vicky Sutherland.
In sixth place came Wick's Deirdre Macangus, Kerry Williamson and Nancy O'Brien (69) before seventh placed Annabelle Brown, (Nairn) with Inverness duo Hazel Flynn and Liz Smith also 69.
