Rachel Walker joins the list of 2015 county champions by beating Gemma Batty
Rachel Walker (Dumfries and County), pictured, retained the Dumfriesshire title by beating Gemma Batty (Powfoot) at the 19th in the county final at Dumfries and Galloway Golf Club on Sunday.
That means were are only two short of having the full set of 15 county champions
Fife and Galloway championships have still to be played.
The 2015 county champions are:
Aberdeenshire - SAMMY LESLIE
Angus - GILLIAN PATON
Ayrshire - CATHERINE MALCOLM
Borders - TARA MACTAGGART
Dumbarton and Argyll - ANNE LAING
Dumfriesshire - RACHEL WALKER

Lanark - LESLEY LLOYD
Midlothian - KATE McINTOSH
Northern Counties - CARA THOMPSON

Now if they all enter this year's SLGA Champion of Champions Tournament at Glasgow Gailes on Sunday, October 11 !
We know that not everyone will be available for that 18-hole event. Rachel Walker, for instance, will be back in America for her third year as a student at at Old Dominion University, Norfolk in Virginia by then.
But the others can try.
The winner of this week's championship at Monifieth will, of course, be eligible to enter the Champion of Champions.

Ladies played their County Championship at Dumfries&Galloway Golf
Club on Saturday/Sunday 16th/17th May. Scratch semi Finals saw 1st seed
Rachel Walker (Dumfries & County) play Jordana Graham (Southerness)
this was a tight match which Rachel won at the 19th, the other semi was
between Gemma Batty (powfoot) and Mirren Fraser (Powfoot) this was also
a good game but Gemma sank a good number of long putts to beat Mirren
by 5 & 3. In the final Rachel and Gemma both played the first nine
holes in 3 under par there was never any more than one in the game. both
came off the last green with level par gross 72's and went down the
19th again which Rachel won to regain the title she won last year. This
was a good birthday present for her as she had her 21st Birthday party
on the Saturday night. The Handicap Championship semi saw Fiona
Macgregor (D&G) play Fiona Allison (D&C) Fiona Macgregor won on
the 18th. Jackie Moffat (Lockerbie) played Helen Kerr (D&G) Jackie
won on the 18th Green. The final between Fiona and Jackie was close for
the first nine but Fiona had a birdie blitz in the inward nine and beat
Jackie 5&4
