Top four seeds reach semi-finals of Aberdeenshire championship


There were no form upsets on the first day of the match-play stages of the Aberdeenshire women's county championship at Peterhead Golf Club where the afternoon wind chill factor was considerable.
All four top seeds have progressed to Sunday morning's quarter-finals with No 1 Sheena Wood (Aberdeen Ladies), five times champion, playing No 4 Kimberley Beveridge (Aboyne), beaten in last year's final, with No 3 seed Carol Wilson (Murcar Ladies) tackling No 2 Sammy Leslie (Aberdeen Ladies), the champion in 2010 and 2013.
Carol, pictured right as she left the sixth green, had her first hole in one during the quarter-final victory by 5 and 4 over the 1995 county champion, Jill Harrison (Cruden Bay).
She used a No. 9 iron to hole her tee shot at the 131yd sixth hole.

In the handicap championship, top seed Joyce Robertson (Cruden Bay) (handicap 16) was beaten 3 and 2 by Sally Collinson (Westhill) (handicap 8).
In the semi-finals Sally will play Morven Adam (Hazlehead) (handicap 12) while Anne Loftus (Peterhead) (handicap 14) takes on clubmate Sandra Ross (handicap 17)
