Olivia Mehaffey chasing Scottish-Welsh stroke play double and a Vagliano Trophy place
Anglo-Scot
Iona Stephen (Wentworth) is 20 strokes behind leader Olivia Mehaffey,
winner of last weekend's Helen Holm Scottish women's stroke-play
tournament, with one round to go in the Welsh women's open amateur
stroke-play championship at Southerndown Golf Club, South Wales.
Iona, the only Scot in the field, has had a pair of 83s for 166 and is joint 37th in the field.
Mehaffey
(Royal County Down Ladies), pictured at Troon last Sunday after winning the "Helen Holm,"
has had two rounds of one-over-par 73 for
146 and leads by three shots from Olivia Winning (Rotherham), the 2013
winner of the "Helen Holm."
Mehaffey, winner of the Irish U18 girls open title for the past three years, played for GB and I in the 2013 Junior Vagliano Trophy match against the Continent of Europe at Chantilly, France.
Now Olivia has very strong claims to play in the women's Vagliano Trophy match in her native Northern Ireland - Malone Golf Club, Belfast - on Friday-Saturday, June 26-27
