Duke University men's team miss out on 
match-play at NCAA Championship

BRADENTON, Florida -- Freshman Jake Shuman fired a one-under 71 to pace Duke University men's team to a nine-over 297 in the third round of the NCAA Championship at The Concession Golf Club. The Blue Devils closed the tournament with a 903 (+39) and are tied for 24th with play suspended due to lightning late in the third round.
The top 15 teams along with the nine lowest individuals not on those teams at the completion of the third round advance to Monday's fourth round of stroke play. The low eight teams after 72 holes of stroke play advance to match play. 

Shuman is currently tied for 23rd overall and in strong position to reach the fourth round of play.
Third round play will resume Monday at 7 a.m. local time with the fourth round beginning 30-45 minutes after the completion of the previous round.

Shuman recorded his second under-par round of the tournament and his team-leading 10th of the season with a 71 Sunday. The Needham, Mass., native recorded birdies on No. 12, No. 16 and No. 17 to make the turn at two-under. He suffered bogeys on No. 1 and No. 2 to slide back to even-par. Shuman added a birdie on the par 3 sixth hole but gave a shot back with a bogey on the next hole. Following a par on No. 8, Shuman rolled in a 25-foot birdie putt on No. 9 to get to two-over for the tournament.
Freshman Adam Wood recorded his second straight round of 74 to finish with a five-over 221. He opened with four straight pars before dropping a stroke with a bogey on No. 14. 

Wood got back to even-par with a birdie on the par 4 16th hole but made the turn at +1 following a bogey on No. 18. Bogeys on No. 2 and No. 4 dropped him back to three-over before he settled in for a strong finish. Wood parred four of the final five holes and added a birdie on the par 4 eighth hole.
Max Greyserman posted a three-over 75 in the third round to finish with a 235 (+19). The Short Hills, New Jersey native birdied his first hole of the day before slipping back to three-over after bogeys on No. 12, No. 13, No. 17 and No. 18.

 He added a birdie on the par 3 fourth hole but suffered a double-bogey on the next hole. Greyserman closed out with three pars and a birdie on No. 8 for his best round of the tournament.
Senior Turner Southey-Gordon carded a five-over 77 Sunday at The Concession Golf Club. He suffered a quad-bogey on the opening hole and slipped to seven-over following a double-bogey on No. 1. Southey-Gordon settled in at that point recording six pars and birdies on No. 3 and No. 6. He closed the tournament with a 13-over 229.
Motin Yeung collected a pair of birdies on the day but suffered three double-bogeys en route to a nine-over 81. He completed the tournament with a 253.
Duke concluded the 2014-15 season with five top-five finishes including team titles at the Bandon Dunes Championship and Blue Devil Spring Shootout.
