Team Europe extend Junior Vagliano lead by
one point after Saturday morning foursomes
The Continent of Europe extended their overnight lead by taking the Saturday foursomes in the Junior Vagliano Trophy match 2-1, giving them an overall advanage of 8-4 with six afternoon singles still to come.
On a bright, sunny morning at Malone Golf Club, Belfast, Team Europes Agathe Laisne and Frida Kinhult beat Hollie Muse and Shannon McWilliam by 2 and 1 in the lead-off foursomes tie.
Laisne and Kinhult made a devastating start, winning the first, second, fourth, fifth and six, for the loss of only the third, to be four up on the seventh tee.
The Europeans'figures included an eagle 3 to the GB and I birdie 4 at the second.
Muse and McWilliam won back the eighth to be three down at the turn.
Laisne and Kinhult birdied the 11th to regain a four-hole advantage.
Muse and McWilliam countered with a birdie of their own to win the 13th and they also won the 14th with a par to be two down with four to play.
Halves at 15, 16 and 17 gave Team Curope a 2 and 1 victory.
Julie Engstrom and Emma Spitz made it 2-0 on the morning play by beating Hazel MacGarvie and Emily Price by 5 and 3.
All square at the turn, the Europeans took the game by the scruff of the neck by winning the 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th for a comprehensive win.

In a very tight match, Martin and Wilson the 10th to square the match. There followed six halved hlles in a row until Martin and Wilson got their noses in front for the first time in the matchby winning the 17th. A half at the 18th gave them a hard-fought one-hole win.
